You can follow a card to get notified by email when significant changes are made to the card.
To avoid sending you too many emails, updates are batched together into a digest email telling you about updates to all the cards you followed.
A card might change because the real-world thing the card is about changed. Alternatively, it might be because the card host's opinion about that topic has changed - likely as a result of discussion in comments.
